DILMA  APELA  PELA VIDA DOS BRASILEIROS CONDENADOS A MORTE NA  INDONÉSIA

A Presidenta Dilma Rousseff falou ao telefone, na manhã de hoje, 16 de janeiro, com Presidente da Indonésia, Joko Widodo, para transmitir apelo pessoal em favor dos cidadãos brasileiros Marco Archer Cardoso Moreira e Rodrigo Muxfeldt Gularte, condenados à morte pela Justiça da Indonésia e na iminência de serem executados.

A Presidenta ressaltou ter consciência da gravidade dos crimes cometidos pelos brasileiros. Disse respeitar a soberania da Indonésia e do seu sistema judiciário, mas como Chefe de Estado e como mãe, fazia esse apelo por razões eminentemente humanitárias.

 A Presidenta recordou que o ordenamento jurídico brasileiro não comporta a pena de morte e que seu enfático apelo pessoal expressava o sentimento da sociedade brasileira.

O Presidente Widodo disse compreender a preocupação da Presidenta com os dois cidadãos brasileiros, mas ressalvou que não poderia comutar a sentença de Marco Archer, pois todos os trâmites jurídicos foram seguidos conforme a lei indonésia e aos brasileiros foi garantido o devido processo legal.

A Presidenta Dilma reiterou lamentar profundamente a decisão do Presidente Widodo de levar adiante a execução do brasileiro Marcos Archer, que vai gerar comoção no Brasil e terá repercussão negativa para a relação bilateral.

President Dilma Rousseff spoke on the phone this morning, January 16, with the Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, to transmit personal appeal for Brazilian citizens Marco Archer Cardoso Moreira and Rodrigo Muxfeldt Gularte, sentenced to death by the courts in Indonesia and about to be executed.

The President pointed out to realize the gravity of the crimes committed by Brazilians. Said he respected the sovereignty of Indonesia and the judiciary, but as head of state and as a mother, made this appeal by eminently humanitarian grounds. The President recalled that the Brazilian legal system does not allow the death penalty and his emphatic personal appeal expressed the feeling of Brazilian society.

The President Widodo said he understood the concern of the President with the two Brazilians, but cautioned that it could not commute the sentence of Marco Archer, for all legal procedures were followed as the Indonesian and Brazilian was guaranteed due process law.
The President Dilma reiterated deeply regret the decision of the President Widodo to carry forward the implementation of Brazilian Marcos Archer, which will generate commotion in Brazil and will have negative repercussions for the bilateral relationship.
